My giveaway this Friday is a pair of pastoral resources.

First is the black, genuine leather version of the HCSB Minister’s Bible. This newly designed edition is ideal for pulpit use with its large type, wide margins, and extensive ancillary notes from many of today’s top preachers and church leadership voices.
Some features of the Bible include:
- Where to Turn When . . .
- Plan of Salvation
- Four-color presentation page
- Various wedding and funeral outlines by Jim Henry
- “8 Traits of Effective Church Leaders” by Thom S. Rainer
- “21 Essentials of Authentic Ministry” by James T. Draper
- “Four Kinds of Expositional Preaching” by Ed Stetzer
- “30 Keys to Giving an Invitation” by O. S. Hawkins
- “Leading a Child to Christ” by Bill Emeott
- “Reaching Students with the Gospel” by Lynn H. Pryor
- “The Importance of Baptism and Communion” by Rick White
- Commitment Counseling
- The Christian Year and Church Calendar
- The Apostles and Their History

Also included in the giveaway is Pastoral Leadership Is, a new book which presents a practical, Bible-based, and highly readable guide to leading the local church. This guidebook to the great adventure of being a pastor follows the directions God gave Moses in order to effectively shepherd Israel: Pray, Teach and Preach, Lead and Multiply. Believing the western world has traded the biblical model of pastoral leadership in favor of a traditional one, author Dave Earley writes to encourage pastors to become the spiritual warriors, missional leaders, and multiplying mentors God calls them to be. Each compelling entry is set up to finish the sentence that begins with the book’s title. For example, Pastoral Leadership Is . . . “Abandoning Your Life to the Call of God,” “Following Paul’s Example in Praying for Your Flock,” “Cooperating with the Holy Spirit,” “Leading a Church Full of Leaders,” “Resolving Conflict,” and more.
To be entered in the giveaway tell us your favorite athlete, living or dead.
The deadline to enter is midnight CST this Saturday. We will draw one winner from the entries on Monday morning.

Willie Mays
Tim Tebow
Michael Jordan
Drew Brees
Henry Aaron
Mark Grace
Eric Liddell, the Scottish runner who was highlighted in the movie “Chariots of Fire” in the 1924 Olympics. His line to his sister has been a “marker” for me for years: “I believe God made me for a purpose, and that purpose is China. But He also made me fast. And when I run I feel His pleasure. To not run whould be to hold Him in contempt.” Wish more of us had a sense of “His pleasure” in the way we serve Him.
A C Green was my favorite professional athlete. If I am not selected to recieve these items I would like to purchase them. Thank you!

My all-time favorite athlete is Larry Bird.
My all-time favorite athlete is Larry Bird.
My favorite athlete is Joe Montana.
How do I narrow it down to one? Pete Maravich, Roger Staubauch and Nolan Ryan all rank highly.
Favorite athlete is Cal Ripken who is retired from the Baltimore Orioles. Apart from being a great athlete, he stayed with the same team his whole life, even though the Orioles were not the best team for his entire career and he could have had opportunity to go wherever he wanted, he chose to make an investment in the team and ultimately the community. He is also a good role model for the generations coming behind him.
Tim Tebow. Before that it was Lou Gerhig.
Reggie White

I have to say it is Danny Wuerffel. He was a great QB at UF, but he also was a great Christian. His witness even help form the attitude and spirit of the great Tim Tebow. As I was growing up, I was just amazed at how he kept playing when he was sacked 5 times in the FSU game. As fate allowed, he had the great rematch and led UF to win its 1st National title. I will never forget his humbleness over the win. He didn’t trash talked about revenge or nothing, but give thanks to God. What a great godly athlete! I just wish his NFL career would have been more successful. However, his ministry in New Orleans has greatly impacted the community. The man simply has a love for God and his fellow man. What a model for others to follow.
I’m a baseball enthusiast. But, I also love football. So, although I can’t pick just one supreme favorite athlete, I can identify Bo Jackson as one of my favorites of all time. He was amazing on both fields—a 5 tool player in baseball—and who can forget his Monday Night Football run against the Seattle Seahawks?
I’m just not sure if I can ever forgive him for refusing his draft in the 1st round in ’86 by my beloved Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That was so wrong…
Ted Williams

He was a 20-time All-Star and 2-time MVP.

Tim Tebow
Larry Bird
Peyton Manning
Albert Pujols
My favorite is Michael Jordan.
Wes Welker
Bay Forrest – Phoenix Suns
Greg Maddux
My favorite athlete is Trent Dilfer. The public never really saw him as an elite quarterback, and rarely was he considered to be one of the best. Yet he was a champion quarterback, and further he never lost sight of his faith. He was an exemplary leader on and off the field. He continues to show his knowledge of the game by serving as a commentator and helping mentor young quarterbacks.
Bill Elliot
Tim Tebow
Robert Griffin III

Troy Polamolu
Michael Jordan
Cal Ripkin, Jr.- He shows up for work!
Satchel Paige – For all he overcame and how great of a pitcher he was

Gonna have to say – Mario Lemieux

Pete Rose…My parents grew up in Cincinnati Ohio and I was raised to be a Reds fan. Although I saw him past his prime I grew up watching and hearing how good he was. I mean he played almost every position except ss, pitcher and catcher. The best part was that he was the example of how to play any sport. Charlie Hustle went all out all the time. Something my father taught me as I played sports. Now I use that same mentality in all walks of life.
Hershell Walker-loved the combination of speed, size, strength, humility, hard work found in one rare athlete. Could have won the Heisman all three years of his college career.
Tim Tebow, good Christian athlete
Eric Liddell

Magic Johnson. This has more to do with spending time with my dad growing up watching games than anything else.
