Friday Is for Freebies: HCSB Study Bible and I Am a Church Member

IAMAChurchMember-webThis week’s giveaway is a signed copy of my latest book I Am a Church Member.

Based on an idea originally taken from this blog, I Am a Church Member discusses the attitudes and responsibilities of church members. I address in detail what congregations should really be focusing on—praying for church leaders, being a functioning member, treasuring church membership, and more.

Six chapters with these titles include study questions to guide the discussion:

  1. I Will Be a Unifying Church Member
  2. I Will Not Let the Church Be About My Preferences and Desires
  3. I Will Pray for My Church Leaders
  4. I Will Lead My Family to Be Healthy Church Members
  5. I Will Be a Functioning Member
  6. I Will Treasure Church Membership as a Gift

Also included is the black, genuine leather version of the HCSB Study Bible, a comprehensive, easy to read, and easy to use Bible, with features and formats specifically designed to enhance your Bible study experience. You can also go to and dive right in for a complete digital experience.

This Bible has a retail price of $79.99 and features 15,000 study notes, 290 Hebrew and Greek word studies, 66 highly detailed book introductions, 62 maps, 27 topical articles, 20 charts, and 18 illustrations, all focusing on the most important topics and questions in Bible study.

  1. Scott Davis says

Peanut brittle is my least favorite. Why? Too hard! God wants candy to be soft – not hard enough to break your teeth!

  2. Darrick Holloman says

Starbursts. There is so much effort opening each package, especially for a guy who bites his fingernails, and then so little reward!

  3. Phillip Swindall's says

Since I’m Type 2 diabetic (diagnosed 2008), and my wife is Type 1 (diagnosed 1984) with very brittle blood sugar levels, I dislike ANY non-sugar-free candy! :)

  4. says

For least favorite candy; I know this is strange, but I don’t like any candy. No pull to chocolate, hard candy, or taffy. Now, every once-in-a-while I do have a desire for a PayDay bar, but after a few bites I find that it is not use worth it. However, move away from candy and soft sugar cookies – that is another story.

  5. James Martin says

Tossup between butterscotch and licorice. But, since I’m diabetic now, I don’t have to suffer through either!!

  6. Laurie Honda says

Sorry miss read – least anything with coconut.
My favorite / Li Hing Mui – Seedless

    Have a Good Day Everyone.

  7. Walter Jr says

Mounds or Almond Joy!! Don’t like coconut

Black Licorice is pretty disgusting too. Close call but so many addressed it so I go with coconut candy bars!! Awful, though many like them!!

  8. Catherine says

OMG’s – it’s chocolatey graham clusters mixed with toffee bits, almonds
or peanuts with a taste that will leave you saying “OMG!” .. I love those.. if you never have it, you should try some.

  9. says

those candy corn things are clearly from hell… a VERY lame attempt of the devil to entice with sugar. My vote is to send them back from whence they came.

  10. John says

Mallow Cups. They look like Reese’s Cups but are full of some nasty marshmallow junk. Disappointing, to say the least. :(

    • says

Bob, Ask anyone who has been restricte from eating caffine – that eliminates most candies. For several years my wife could not have chocolate for that reason, so salted nut rolls became a favorite at my house!

  11. says

Unfortunately for my weight and genral health, I like just about any candy I have ever tired. However, to pick one I would have to agree my least favorite, like so many others here, is black licorice. Thom – thank you so much for your new book, “I AM A Church Member.” This week we will be finishing the last chapter as a Bible Study on Wednesday. I plan to give a copy to every new member that joins our church! I would love the autographed copy, and will pass on my current copy to someone else should I win the giveaway this week.

  12. Prentiss Yeates says

Years ago, for Halloween , there was a bottom barrel candy sold at “tg&y”, that was wrapped in orange or black wax paper and tasted a bit like peanut taffy and candle wax. As a child I though, “uh oh , it’s that candy”.

  13. Don Durbin says

    Don’t forget to pray for
    The my hope for America
    Reaching for the lossness
Right here in the United States .
    And for Billy Graham’s 95th
    Birthday , what a blessing !!!
    Have a great week :-)

  14. Sherrie says

Has to be horehound drops – my least favorite are my brothers favorite. I am a good sister and buy him some when he’s around. :)
