Praying that the selection and transition of a new pastor will be the sovereign selection of God for FBC Pelham. I believe God will do this for you. Praying that present pastor will have an enjoyable retirement.

Father – I give thanks to You for a humble servant who lovingly labored with endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ for the advancement of Your Kingdom. Praise God that he preached and taught the way of truth. Lord the gift of such a dedicated pastor often goes unspoken; therefore, I ask that You inspire this local body to give thanks and appreciation for the leadership enjoyed for so many years. I ask also that You bless this church with discernment and integrity as they search for a replacement. May they realize the power of prayer and turn to You knowing that they can do all things in Christ Jesus. Father may their search begin right where they are and if necessary span out as concentric circles until You identify a servant leader who is both courageous and humble. Lord may they not miss a diamond in the rough. Let them have the vision to develop a plan that may require some degree of refining and polishing. And, may they grow in unity as they work together in Christ for Your glory.
I pray this in Jesus name. Amen.

Thank you for the prayers and the kind words and please keep our fellowship in your prayers. I want to finish strong and leave the new pastor a strong, loving, evangelistic church to reach the lost and disciple the saved. It has been a blessing from God to be able to minister in Pelham for thirty five years and I plan to keep preaching as the Lord opens doors after retirement. Our pastor search committee has spent thirty days in prayer and they have been trained by Dr. Dale Huff of the Alabama Baptist State Convention. I truly believe the greatest days of our church are still in the future. We give God the glory and praise, and I am so thankful for the sweet fellowship that we have been blessed and privileged to serve.
