Keith and Kristyn Getty’s post about singing is right on. The former church I served had singing in the morning and evening service. There were so many people who wanted to sing special music that you might get to sing once or twice a year. Which I miss so much. I love music. The church I serve now has choir music and we sing a couple of hymns and no special music.
So excited to attend this conference! Thank you, Thom, for hosting this wonderful couple and for keeping congregational singing at the forefront of worship in the local church.
Thanks, Logan. They are incredible people.
If you want the congregation to sing more bring back the hymnals. Give them something to sing from besides a bunch of words on a screen with no music. I cannot read music but it at least tells me when to go up or down. Our church’s 5th Sunday singing is one of our more successful outreach tools. Our choir is reaching people too and we do the traditional choir stuff. They are not a backup for a soloist; they are the feature.
Will videos of the conference’s presentations be posted on the Internet for those who are unable to attend?
